Ethio Telecom vs. Safaricom Data Package Optimizer

Enter how much data you actually use and both providers' published packages are priced against it. You get the effective price per gigabyte, the real cost of covering that data in a 30-day month, and the best value package marked. Figures run entirely in this tab.

Your data use

Tell it what you use and when you can use it. The result updates as you type.

The amount you put on the network. Every figure on this page works out what it costs to cover that volume in a 30-day month.

A day is read as 30 days and a week as 30 days divided by 7, so a monthly package is measured against the same 30 days every time.

When you can use the data

This filters the packages. Every card still shows the hours the operator prints next to its own price, which is not always the window you would guess.

A daily package has to survive one day of use, so a daily plan is counted as 30 purchases and a weekly one as 4.

Choosing one operator hides the other's packages. It does not change any price.

The target and filters you last used are kept in this browser and offered again next time. Nothing is sent anywhere, and the button above removes them.

Where these numbers come from

Both tables were transcribed by hand from the operator package pages below and checked on 18 October 2026. Nothing here is modelled, averaged, or carried over from another provider. When a package changes, this page does not know until someone re-checks it, so confirm the price on your own confirmation screen before you buy.

A gigabyte is read as 1,024 MB, the same way the operators write their allowances, so a package sold as 1 GB for 37 birr reads as 37.00 birr per GB. Cash for 30 days counts only whole purchases that fit inside the month. Usage past a package's allowance is charged at the operator's published out-of-bundle rate and is not modelled here. This is a figure for planning, not a purchase instruction.
