Ethiopian Calendar & Date Converter

Move between the Gregorian and Ethiopian calendars in both directions, read every date in Ge'ez numerals, and browse a month grid marked with public holidays and fasting periods. The conversion follows the 13 month Ethiopian year of 30 day months and a 5 or 6 day Pagume, so no guessing is involved.

Movable feasts

These feasts follow the Coptic Paschal cycle or the lunar calendar, so their dates change each year. The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church announces them; this page lists them without guessing a date.

    • Wednesday and Friday are fast days all year. The fast is lifted during the fifty days between Fasika and Pentecost, and on Genna and Timkat when they fall on those days.
    • An Ethiopian year is leap when the year number divided by four leaves a remainder of three, which makes Pagume six days long.
